Dear Employees of Unique Aid:

As you are aware, Unique Aid no longer provides the group health insurance for neither full-time nor part-time employees.  However, you may be eligible for individual medical coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as ObamaCare that begins on January 1st, 2014.

See attached document for more information on New Health Insurance Marketplace Coverage Options for you and your family.

Under the terms of the act, employees who are not eligible to participate in a group insurance plan through their employer may be eligible for a tax-subsidized insurance policy.  These subsidized policies are only offered on the new Federal Exchanges about which you have already received a notice.  As an example, if you are a family of four and your income is between $23,550 and $94,200, you are eligible for a direct credit to help you pay the cost of your insurance.

In order to make this transition easier for our employees, we have arranged for our insurance broker, BrownBirk Benefits, LLC, to assist you in purchasing insurance on these new exchanges.  We have used BrownBirk Benefits for the past eight years and have been very happy with the results.

We recommend that you contact either one of BrownBirk’s principals using the below listed contact information. Their services are totally free to you and using an agent does not affect the cost of whatever insurance policy you choose.  :

Edward N. Birk, CLU ChFC RHU REBC CASL -  215-322-3663 or enbirk@aol.com

     Hal Brown, MBA -  215-860-5326 or halbrown1@verizon.net

Both Ed and Hal are licensed to sell all of the major insurance plans in the area and are also licensed and approved to sell insurance on the new Federal Exchanges.
